EXCHANGE EXPERIENCE

In the Fall of 2021, I went on the UGRAD semester exchange program and studied at the University of Missouri for a semester. During my time at the university, I exhibited exceptional leadership skills as I served as the Cultural Ambassador of Pakistan, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of my country to my peers and professors.  I was enrolled in a Biomedical Engineering program, and I took advantage of the program to further my education by enrolling in Non-Degree Graduate level courses in Computational Neuroscience and Design and Development of Biomedical Innovation.

As a student in a new academic system and culture, I quickly adapted to the expectations and customs, demonstrating my ability to integrate and thrive in new environments. During my time at the University of Missouri, I also conducted extensive research on Central Pattern Generators and presented a comprehensive analysis and working of Half Center Oscillators using NEURON and Python to professors and peers.

In addition to my academic pursuits, I also gained valuable practical experience through my internship at the University of Missouri Hospital. As a Biomedical Innovation Intern, I assisted lab researchers in handling equipment and monitoring results related to nanotechnology used to remove tumors in breast cancer patients. Through this experience, I gained a deeper understanding of nanotechnology and its application in the medical field. I also had the opportunity to contribute to the research being conducted on nanotechnology and its effects on breast cancer patients.

This experience provided me with the opportunity to demonstrate my academic abilities, leadership potential, and cultural awareness, and it helped me further my education and gain valuable skills in the field of Biomedical Engineering.
